Intel Stock Rises After Trump’s Meeting with CEO Lip-Bu Tan
Intel (INTC) shares climbed 3.5% during Monday's trading session following reports of a meeting between CEO Lip-Bu Tan and former President Donald Trump. The gains extended into after-hours trading, with the stock rising an additional 2.3% after TRUMP described the discussion as "very interesting" in a Truth Social post.
The meeting, which included Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, appears to have eased tensions after Trump previously called for Tan's resignation. The CEO's ties to China had drawn criticism from Republican Senator Tom Cotton, prompting concerns about Intel's operational security.
While no specific policy discussions were disclosed, Trump indicated further collaboration, stating Tan and cabinet members WOULD "bring suggestions" within the week. The Wall Street Journal reported the meeting aimed to address Tan's background and explore government-industry partnerships.
